One of the few titles for adults on the Easter holiday, this beautiful gift book tells the story of Jesus from Crucifixion to Resurrection in short chapters, illustrated with line art, told in the first-person narrative of seven disciples. Each section offers the author's commentary on the lessons learned from each disciple and suggests simple traditions to follow to remember how implementing the teachings of the Easter holiday can vastly enrich your life today.
This is a fantastic book for those looking to add more of a spiritual meaning to their Easter celebrations.
Normally I don't post or review many religious themed books on my blogs, though I am very religious person, and enjoy reading religious books. With the upcoming Easter holiday, I thought it would be appropriate to feature a religious themed Easter book.
I personally have been looking for a book to help add/keep a religious feel with the upcoming Easter holiday for my family. This book was just what I was looking for. It is short, and to the point (I mean that in a good way), and contains everything needed to add more meaning to Easter family celebrations/traditions. The chapters give seven examples of lessons that can be used. Each chapter focuses on a religious aspect of the bible that leads up to Christ's crucifition and then resurrection.
Each chapter focuses on individuals from the bible. They include
I liked that each chapter gives a brief history of who this person is, and the role they had in the Savior's life from bible accounts. Included at the end of each chapter is an outline of how the reader can apply the tradition and what they just read into their Easter celebrations. The nice thing is that these are not only faith based, but family friendly. One of my favorite mentions in the book is the red Easter Egg tradition on Serbia, and the history behind it, and how she tied into the chapter about The Women in the bible/Jesus's life.
The author, Emily Belle Freeman, also included some of the traditions she uses and how she applies each of the seven traditions and lessons into her family's Easter celebrations with her family. Readers can use these traditions and lessons featured in this book the week leading up to Easter or the seven weeks leading up to Easter, to provide a much more meaningful religious celebration for their families.
